Pirate's Press

So I'm doing the flexi through Pirate's Press.  Working on the label design right now.  I'm thinking black flexi with silver metallic foil.  It'll be a one song flexi-disc and hopefully will be up for preorder by the end of the month.  Heading off to Burgerama II tonight and will work a few details out with the Burger boys if they have a minute or two, but based on their non-stop life since SXSW I'm sure they are exhausted.  There are also a few bands I'd like to talk to.  One being the band I initially approached about a release and continue to keep in touch with hoping they'll send me a track.  Thanks to those who keep checking my site and being patient with my blabbering.  I promise the reveal will be worth it.

Onward and upward

Have been in conversations with said Detroit legend (oops, did i add too much), but it's been a week or so.  My Burger/Philthy co-release is off and running!  Burger is all for it, but with putting out a tape a month for the entire month of January, Burgerrama coming up, and SXSW those dudes are busy as hell.  They gave me their blessing to run with the release.  Here are a couple of hints:  1)  Burger released their album.  2)  Members of the band used to be in another band, of which Burger has released music for.  3)  The first release will be MONO alternative takes/mixes of tracks from their album.

This is going to be a super-limited, one song flexi-disc, but I like presentation... so I'm still thinking artwork is necessary.  Despite being a flexi, and most not being released with any sleeve, art, etc... I am thinking some sort of sleeve with artwork, hand-numbered, etc.

I think I have the art chosen.  Working on fonts, etc.  Keep checking back.  I think by the end of
February I can give you ALL the details.

Baby steps

Just spoke to the son of the LEGEND.  There seems to be some interest which would be great.  I can't imagine that this man could be my first release.  Beyond expectations!  Keep checking back my friends.  I'll keep you informed.

A legend

I am suppose to have a phone call with someone that I can only call a LEGEND about a possible release on my DIY, upcoming label.  I hope we can work something out.  This could be spectacular!

The first release CONTINUES

Got an email from the band yesterday with some input.  Very cool to get an email with this name as who it is from.  It is kind of surreal.  He gave some some ideas about cover, how he'd love it to be a co-release with BURGER RECORDS, and some other formalities.  This is spectacular and can't happen fast enough if you ask me.

The first release!

Philthy Phonographic's (PHIL 001) first release is in motion.  I've been in talks with the infamous Burger Records to co-release it with me.  I think I'd like to do the first release as a one-sided flexi-disc with a color cover.  I love flexis, but am always disappointed they don't have a cover to go with them.  Since this is my baby, I get to do what I want.  I'm thinking a hand-numbered limited edition of 250 black flexis.  I have a band that has already sent me songs, but that is still a secret.  Sorry.  I will let you know that they are mono alternate versions from their debut album, which is SPECTACULAR and out of print despite being repressed 4 and 5 times.  I am very excited about this and will keep you informed and we get closer to pre-order.
